Peter Anton is an acclaimed contemporary artist renowned for his larger-than-life sculptures of food. Born in 1963 in New Haven, Connecticut, Anton’s work captures the allure and indulgence of comfort foods, transforming everyday edible items into extraordinary art pieces. His meticulous attention to detail and lifelike representations have made him a significant figure in the world of contemporary art.

Anton’s sculptures are celebrated for their hyper-realistic quality, often evoking a visceral response from viewers. His ability to replicate the texture, color, and form of various foods, from chocolates and candies to ice cream and pastries, challenges the viewer’s perception of reality. Anton’s works are not merely visual replicas; they aim to engage multiple senses, invoking memories and emotions tied to the act of eating and the pleasure associated with it.

Anton has developed a unique artistic approach that combines elements of Pop Art and Hyperrealism. His creative process involves sculpting with a variety of materials, including resin, metal, clay, and acrylic, to achieve the desired realism. The final products are often painted with meticulous care, ensuring that every detail, down to the tiniest sprinkle on a cupcake, is captured with precision.

Anton’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, including Art Miami, TEFAF, Art Paris, and the Palm Beach Art Fair. His pieces are part of numerous private and public collections, showcasing the broad appeal of his art. Critics and art enthusiasts alike praise his ability to blend humor, nostalgia, and technical skill into pieces that are as thought-provoking as they are visually stunning.

In addition to his exhibitions, Peter Anton has undertaken several large-scale public art projects. His sculptures, often displayed in public spaces, invite interaction and engagement, making art accessible to a broader audience. By transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, Anton continues to push the boundaries of contemporary sculpture, making him a one-of-a-kind artist.

Peter Anton's exhibition "LIFE IS LIKE A GREAT BIG BOX OF CHOCOLATES"
at Gallery Delaive, Amsterdam, 2014 ©Delaive

Nico Delaive has collaborated with Peter Anton for many years now. Being immediately charmed by Anton’s striking sculptures and his studio which resembled a sweet shop, Nico eventually invited Peter to Amsterdam to visit the renowned Holtkamp patisserie to further inspire him. Throughout their fruitful collaboration Nico has shown Chocolate box pieces all over the world at art fairs such as TEFAF, Art Miami and KIAF Seoul to familiarize as many people as possible with the magnificent work of “Candy Warhol”, as the artist is often called.
