Gallery Delaive is pleased to participate in the 39th edition of PAN Amsterdam, opening October 31, 2026, presenting art, antiques and design by international artists.
The last time Gallery Delaive participated in PAN Amsterdam was back in 2009. At that time, the gallery showed works by Karel Appel, Kees van Bohemen, Corneille, Ayako Rokkaku, Takashi Murakami, Andy Warhol and Walasse Ting.
This year, Gallery Delaive will present a curated selection of works by Karel Appel, Peter Anton, Corneille, Sam Francis, Niki de Saint Phalle, Walasse Ting and Andy Warhol.
A highlight of our presentation is an acrylic on wood piece designed in 1994 by Karel Appel. This piece was created as part of the opera set for Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) at De Nederlandse Opera. The Magic Flute is Mozart’s most popular and beloved opera, and its melodies are still widely known today.
At the time when these Opera set pieces were made in 1994, Nico Delaive helped and visited Karel Appel regularly at the ateliers of De Nederlandse Opera. For Gallery Delaive, this work therefore holds a special meaning, as it connects Karel Appel’s artistic vision with the history of the gallery and Nico Delaive’s personal connection with the artist.
